Project of the Year is on the rails
The Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) has named the Queensland Rail Management Centre its National Project of the Year for 2016 at its annual Project Management Achievement Awards.
Conducted with aplomb by Queensland Rail, the project comprised the delivery of a world class facility that is providing industry-leading strategic coordination for the Queensland Rail network.
Queensland Rail’s Acting Chief Operating Officer Martin Ryan said Queensland Rail was honoured to have the new Rail Management Centre recognised among so many other world-class and worthy projects. “The new Rail Management Centre is a $40 million investment in the future of the South East Queensland rail network, to ensure that we continue our impressive on time running record of more than 95%,” Ryan said.
“The project was delivered seven months ahead of time and approximately $9 million under budget. The building of the Rail Management Centre supported more than 800 jobs over the life of the project and boasts world class technologies including the second largest LG control screen in the world.”
The honour marks the third consecutive win by a Queensland project at the national awards.
