Upskilling program to boost career prospects

Australian registered training organisation Upskilled has launched a $250,000 initiative to provide individuals with career help. Upskilled developed the offer after noting survey results showing that more than half of working Australians are unhappy in their careers.

University of Sydney launches short program management course

The University of Sydney is the first university in Australia to launch a short program management course: a 6-day course instead of the 3-4-year academic programs other universities currently offer.

The university recently undertook research examining the program and project management courses delivered at 85 universities across the world. Early research suggests that only four—Oxford University, Stanford University, The University of Sydney and University of New South Wales’ Australian Defence Force Academy—were teaching advanced concepts.

IPMA World Congress final call for abstracts

Organisers of the 25th International Project Management Association (IPMA) World Congress have released a final call for abstracts, with the deadline this Friday, 1 April 2011.

Hosted by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), the IPMA World Congress will be held in Brisbane, Australia, over 9-12 October 2011.

Project management for beginners webinar

The Australian Businesswomen’s Network (ABN) will host a project management webinar for beginners on 28 April 2011.

Presented by Helen S Cooke and Karen Tate, authors of The McGraw-Hill 36-Hour Course: Project Management, the webinar will take participants through a basic overview of how to successfully coordinate projects from start to finish.
