South Australia’s largest construction project, the Royal Adelaide Hospital, has engaged infrastructure manufacturer Ausco Modular as its supplier of construction facilities.

The supplier, which has manufactured modular building products in the state for more than 50 years, will see the supply of facilities for up to 1,800 workers, including a fully operational commercial canteen, a 200m2 safety induction facility, 1,200m2 of high quality office suites and all associated site facilities.

“Ausco’s expert technical, design and supply capabilities played an important role in securing the contract during the negotiation phase,” said Rob Wormald, Ausco Modular’s general manager Southern Region.

He also singled out Ausco’s own project management as a key factor in landing the contract. “The project management experience of Ausco’s construction team was instrumental in securing a project of this size.”

The project will be rolled out in stages to accommodate the growth of the construction project over the next four years, with the first six hire buildings supplied and installed within 72 hours of winning the contract.

“Providing innovative solutions within tight timeframes was just as important for the client as Ausco’s ability to supply a large number of buildings,” Wormald added.

Innovative solutions include a ‘smart’ boardroom, break-out areas and configuring the overall design around significant trees on the site.
