ONE Group heads Priceline flagship project

Health retail chain Priceline appointed ONE Group Retail Experience as the principal project contractor for the development of its 670m² flagship store in Sydney’s Westfield Shopping Centre, as well as the roll out of 10 additional stores across Australia.

ONE Group brought together a team of highly skilled project managers for Priceline’s biggest development to date, working closely with interior designers, Parker Design and Australian Pharmaceuticals Industries on the project. It was responsible for the entire fitout, inclusive of preparation of drawing packages and council negotiations.

High design expectations and Westfield’s strict interior guidelines heavily influenced the final design and installation of the store. It needed to be quintessentially Priceline, friendly and welcoming whilst using high-end materials and finishes.

Pino Colaci, director of Project Services at ONE Group, said he was conscious of getting the balance right between meeting the brand expectations of Priceline and the demands of Westfield.

“Our project management team, led by Ken Walker and Lucinda Downey, worked extensively with our key suppliers to secure the best rates for a range of high-end materials used on the project,” he said. “The management of the materials, timelines and budgets were essential elements to making this project a success for Priceline.”

Colaci said the project team ensure its processes were streamlined “to keep the budget in check”.

Project manager Ken Walker said the team were strict about keeping to schedule for that reason. “Across the industry we are finding that budgets are getting blown out as deadlines for projects are often extended. By working effectively, we were able to keep the project on schedule and hence in budget,” he remarked.

The result is an attractive and inviting store, with which Priceline is enamoured, said Bridget Blake, general manager of Store Operations.

“Much of the success of the overall project was down to ONE Group Retail Experience who partnered with us in building the store to exceptional standards,” she said. “The project was delivered on time and they worked with us to keep the project moving forward, even as we were still finalising design elements.”
