Mining expo hosts project management conference

Next month’s Mining Australia 2011 expo will have a project management focus when the Australian Institute of Project Management’s Western Australia Chapter hosts a One-day Conference alongside the main event.

WA Minister for Mines and Petroleum Norman Moore will conduct the opening address for ‘Project Management: The Art of Getting Things Done’, followed by a mix of high level practitioners, academics and consultants who specialise in project management and the mining sector.

Presenters include principal at Sinclair Knight Merz Dr Neveen Moussa, who project manages large feasibility studies, Associate Professor in Project Management at Curtin University of Technology David Baccarini whose research interest include risk management, project success and cost contingency, and international consultant David Hudson of Primal Solutions speaking on professional standards in project management.

Other topics to be covered include Successful Attributes of Project Management, the Essence of Project Management, and Key Issues in Project Management for the next 3-5 Years, and there will be a Q&A forum following the formal presentations.

The One-day Conference will be held on 6 April 2011, while the Mining Australia expo will run from 6-8 April 2011 at the Belmont Park Racecourse in Perth.
