Project management conference driven by delegates
The 9th Annual Project Management Australia Conference (PMOz) is set to be a highly interactive affair with the program having already been crowdsourced by delegates.
The audience driven model is more mindful of the project management community’s needs and replaces the ‘top-down’ programming of the past, said Pamela Holsinger, director of conference hosts PMGlobal.
“This is a conference of the people, for the people and by the people,” she said. “We reached out to delegates via social media and surveys to discover what is of real importance to the everyday project, program and portfolio manager. As a result we have created topical clinics and interactive think-tanks for likeminded peers, speakers, sponsors and industry leaders to create the future of the industry.”
Themed ‘Walk the Talk’, the conference will cover the past, present and future of the project, program and portfolio industry and will include keynotes from international guests such as CERN’s Professor Pierre Bonnal, a senior project engineer and Peter Taylor, author of The Lazy Project Manager, as well as local expert Air Vice Marshal Kym Osley, program manager of New Air Combat Capability at the Royal Australian Air Force.
Holsinger indicated that the event has been designed to help delegates take their project, program and portfolio management skills and knowledge further in an ever-changing climate. “In this day and age if you slow down for a second you’ll be taken over. That is why it is so important to get the basics right and to build from there,” she said.
“With so much technology and so many changing ‘best-method’ practices it is time to take a look at where we’ve been and where we intend on going, and most importantly, how to be the best at what we do—globally. We’ve listened to you, now we invite you to engage with us at the conference you have created.”
PMOz will be held at the Sebel and Citigate Albert Park, Melbourne from 14–16 August 2012. For more information or to register, see www.pmoz.com.au.
